Hand or Press Shank
The Model 85 is similar to the Model 80, but offers a 2 wheel quick-change feature. The expanded quick change feature of the last two wheels enables the operator to quickly change the last two characters in the marking sequence.

Operation
By sliding the wheel shaft to the left, and then rotating the knurled knobs, the tens wheel is quickly set. By sliding the wheel shaft to the right and rotating the knurled knobs, the units wheel is quickly set. Both quick-change wheels are indexed for direct sight reading, thus simplifying the selection of the correct characters. The other wheels in the machine are changed by using the convenient spanner wrench
Compatibility
The Model 83P can be adapted to virtually any press. Our standard shank is 1" diameter x 1-1/4" or 2" long. We offer a standard dovetail shank to fit the hand or power presses or Model 116 Dovetail Adaptor. We can make custom round or rectangular shanks. We can omit the shank and provide tapped mounting holes or install a custom designed adapter. Or we can leave the top flat so the customer can drill and tap or mount an adapter. Please request a factory quote.
By using shanks outlined in the Price List, the Model 83P can be easily adapted to the Model 98 and Model 47 Platforms.

- Letters A to L and blank (12 division), I omitted (Quick-change only)

- Letters N to Z and blank (14 division*)
*14 division wheels cannot be used in the quick-change position.
Note: Wheels can be engraved with any character, symbols, or styles
